Employment for Seniors announces leadership changes, new board members
Laura O'Toole elected chair of board

    Laura O’Toole, area human resources director and business office manager of Trillium Place retirement community in northwest Columbus, has been selected president for 2010 of Employment for Seniors, a Columbus-based job-assistance non-profit organization for people 55 and older.

     She is in her second three-year term on the EFS board, having served as secretary in 2008 and vice president in 2009.

     Brett Johnson, sales manager of WMNI-AM Radio, is the new vice president.  Johnson has begun his third term on the board and is a long-time advocate of EFS, providing public-service announcements on the non-profit agency's services and advertising for its events.

     Tiffany Makley, the human resources/training manager for Faith Mission, a service of Lutheran Social Services, continues as secretary. She joined the board in 2008. She was human resources director at Consumer Credit Counseling Service prior to joining Lutheran Social services.

     The treasurer for 2010 is Larry K. Focht, one of three new board members. The others are Patrick Berry, regional director of loss prevention for Macy’s, and Tina Vogel Kuba, vice president of Mortgage Corp. of Ohio.

    Focht, a certified public accountant, brings a financial-management and budgeting background to the organization.  He is president of Making Sense, a personal and small-business financial coaching business he founded and was formerly CFO of a local packaging products manufacturer. 

    Berry has over 28 years of experience in retail and industry risk management.  His extensive work has included training executive staff in crisis management, investigations and interviews.

    With a background in mortgage lending and health care, Kuba has a goal of improving both the financial and physical health of senior citizens. 

     “Employment for Seniors has had a very successful year” said Carol Ventresca, executive director.  “Even with the difficult economy we face, EFS has continued to assist mature job seekers find viable employment opportunities.”
