 Employment for Seniors announces the
Charles B. Jenkins Legacy Award

Columbus, Ohio – Employment for Seniors, Inc., today announced the Charles B. Jenkins Legacy Award, named in honor of the recently retired Executive Director of this local non-profit organization.

The Charles B. Jenkins Award was created to recognize and honor those individuals who exemplify the spirit and mission of this organization.  Jenkins was also named the first recipient, to more fully recognize the strong leadership and willing spirit he has shown in promoting this organization and its mission.  “Each year this award will be presented to another individual who exemplifies the dedication Chuck has given to us, and his service to the hundreds of individuals in our community to reach their full employment potential,” Mark Boyed, Chair of the EFS Board of Trustees, said.

Employment for Seniors was established in 1972, to place qualified older adults in gainful employment which is mutually beneficial to both the person and the employer.  Jenkins was named Executive Director of Employment for Seniors in 1995, leading the organization into a broad range of partnerships with local foundations, governmental entities, other nonprofit organizations and private industry.  He achieved many accomplishments and created a greater awareness on the issues facing older workers in reaching gainful employment, in the Central Ohio community.  Most notable, Jenkins developed the annual Central Ohio Senior Job Fair, a highly successful program which advocates for older persons as dynamic workers, and corrects the misconceptions of this important population.  Jenkins will continue in this advocacy role for the organization and as a member of the Board of Trustees.

“Chuck has served Employment for Seniors for many years,” Dr. Carol A. Ventresca, the current Executive Director said. “His leadership of the organization and its dedicated staff and volunteers is commendable. I am pleased that Chuck will continue as an active member of our board.”
